It was time to change the
mountain division of the
Patapsco Valley RR.   This
division has not changed in
several years and was a part of
the original plan.     It was nice to
have trains climb up to the top of
the mountain and descend back
to the station.  However, starter
sets and conventional trains
could not run on this line.    I
decided to add two levels track
and a new tunnel.  Construction
started in March of 2007.

The first five pictures show the
mountain subdivision before the
construction.

The next  7 pictures show the
completion of bottom line, and
where the remains of one of the
mountains where the line
descending by the lake.   A
curved tunnel was added which
provided platform for the upper
line.   The upper line used real
trax and was supported in some
sections by the MTH trestles.

The last 9 pictures show the
formation of the mountains and
the slopes between the upper
and lower lines.   All the Real
Trax trestles were covered using
paper and plaster cloth.
Hydrocal was used to reinforce
the plaster and to add texture.
The curved tunnel has a portal
on one side to allow additional
access.
